What is it?
My Bookbags is a feature that allows patrons/users to save lists of books and other library materials. These lists can be private to the patron or they can share the lists with others via RSS.
To access your bookbags:
- 1. Log into your account on the OPAC. See Accessing User Accounts for information on how to do so.
- 2. Click on My Bookbags.
Bookbags are created and viewed via the My Account screen by selecting the My Bookbags view. The first time this screen is chosen by the patron, there will be the message: “You have not created any bookbags.”
If you have bookbags created, they will be listed.
Create a bookbag
- 1. Log into your account on the OPAC. See Accessing User Accounts for information on how to do so.
- 2. Click on My Bookbags.
- 3. Any bookbags already created will be listed. To create a bookbag, enter the name of the bookbag under Create a new bookbag, choose whether or not to share (Yes or No) the bookbag via RSS and click on the Submit button.
(Note: The first time a shared bookbag is created, the following privacy warning will appear: Warning: Adding items to a bookbag creates a link between you and the items in the database. The contents of the bookbag are NOT publicly viewable unless the bookbag is shared. However, if you prefer not to have any link between your patron record and a particular item or items, we suggest that you do not place said items in a bookbag or that you avoid using bookbags all together. Thank you.)
Click on OK. The bookbag has been created. Click on OK.
- 4. You must be logged in to place items in a bookbag. The option will not appear in the More Actions drop-down unless the patron/user is logged in. The patron/user can immediately begin creating and adding items to bookbags after they are logged in.
