Resetting patron/user password

Often patrons/users will forget their password and you will need to reset their passwords.


You can do this in the staff client by retrieving the patron/user record and clicking on the Edit button at the top of the screen.


The patron/user record will open. Click on the Reset Password button next to the Password field. A new temporary password is generated that can be given to the patron/user to log in.


To save the changes, click on the Save button.


The patron/user will need to follow the instructions for changing a first-time password in the OPAC to create a new password.


Replacing a patron/user barcode

When a library card is lost, it must be replaced with a new replacement card. This means that the barcode on the patron/user account needs to be replaced as well.


Retrieve the patron/user record and click on the Edit button. Their record will display. Click on the Replace Barcode button.


The current barcode will be removed from the Barcode field and a message will pop up next to the field: "The value entered is not valid." Scan in the new barcode. Whatever is in the OPAC/Staff Client User Name will remain the same, so if it was the old barcode, that could be updated as well, by scanning in the new barcode in that field as well.


Click on the Save button to save the changes.
