Changing First-time Password in the OPAC
After accounts are created in the staff client, when a first time user logs into their account on the OPAC, they will be asked to change their temporary password (given to them when they were registered) for a new, more secure password. Passwords are case sensitive.
It is likely that patrons who attempt to log in from home for the first time will need assistance. These are the steps they need to follow:
- 1. Click on My Account on the lower right of the home search screen (or on Log in/My Account on the left hand side of the advanced search screen).
- 2. A log in screen will display. Enter in your username/barcode and the temporary password. Click on the Login button.
- 3. The screen will refresh prompting you for a new password. First you must enter the temporary password, then you need to enter in the new secure password. The new secure password must be entered in two times to confirm it. (As of version 1.6 the new password must have seven digits and must include at least one letter and at least one number.)
- 4. Click on the Update Password button. If all is correct, a message will appear stating that the password was successfully updated. Click on OK.
- 5. After the new password is created, you must log in once more using the new secure password.
Account Summary
- After a patron has logged in, the default view is the Account Summary. In the Account Summary view, patron name, day phone number, evening phone number, username, password, email address, primary identification, active barcode, home library and account creation date are displayed, as well as any addresses associated with the patron. Patrons can have more than one address, i.e., a primary home address and a vacation home address, or a street address and a post office box.
- Patrons can change the information in three areas: the username, the password, and the email address.
- The patron username is changed by clicking on the Change link to the right of the Username. They then need to enter a new username, and must click on Submit to complete the change.
- Patrons can change their password by clicking on the Change link to the right of the password (which is not shown). They then need to enter the old password once and the new password twice to confirm and must click on Submit to complete the change.
- Patrons can change their email address by clicking on the Change link next to the email address, They then need to enter a new email address, and click on the Submit button to complete the change.
- Other than the default Account Summary view; there are an additional 5 boxes with links : Items Checked Out, Items on Hold, Fines, Account Preferences and My Bookbags. When each of these are clicked on, the related information displays.
Logging out of My Account
Patrons/users can log out of their accounts from any screen in the OPAC except the initial home search screen.
